TCC Stormwater Program Plan Survey

Car washing is prohibited on all campuses of TCC. Cars should be washed at commercial car wash centers or on your own yard so the water infiltrates into the ground.

No maintenance and/or repairs of students’ personal vehicles are allowed on campus. Any repairs, battery changes, or fluid changes/leaks should occur at an auto repair shop only.

Automobile fluids are very harmful to the environment. If these fluids are dripped onto impervious surfaces they can be washed into storm drains and can cause environmental damage to water bodies.

Pet waste can be a major source of bacteria and excess nutrients in local waters. When walking your pet, pick up waste and dispose of it in a trash receptacle or flushing it into the sanitary sewer.

The number one pollutant in stormwater by volume is sediment. Automobiles should be washed at a commercial car wash center to removal all mud/dirt prior to driving on campus.

TCC participates in single-stream recycling (i.e. placing recyclable material in a single container.)

As part of the minimum control measures of TCC’s Stormwater permit, TCC (or contractor(s) working for the college) is/are required to inspect all current construction projects for violations regarding erosion and sediment control measures and/or other stormwater violations that may be occurring on State property.

(1) TCC has committed to providing students information regarding car washing in parking lots, oil changes and tracking of muddy tires on campus. (2) TCC has developed a training program for maintenance and custodial staff regarding prevention of illicit discharges down storm drains and proper disposal to sanitary sewers. (3) TCC has committed to installing, maintaining, and replacing cigarette butt stations on campuses where students smoke, six (6) per stations and signs per year.
